Project Reset is a free and confidential service for people in the Ottawa region who are concerned that someone close to them might become violent, or is engaging with a violent group.

If someone close to you…

is angry or isolated and needs help.

spends time connecting with extreme groups.

is expressing harmful beliefs.

has opinions others consider hateful.

is withdrawing from relationships and activities.

is making threats or talking about not being around much longer.

is engaging with violent content.

is talking or acting in ways that show increasing despair.

is speaking or writing about harming themselves or others.

  • We are a team of social service professionals based in Ottawa who are trained and ready to engage in a free, confidential, and nonjudgmental dialogue with you.

  • We can offer a judgement-free listening ear, but we can also connect you with therapists and counsellors, or provide you with resources to support connections to housing, employment, and education.

  • Our team cares about your privacy. If you contact us, we will use the information provided to communicate with you and provide an appropriate service. For details on how we protect your personal information, see our privacy policy.

    In certain cases, we may be required to share information with law enforcement, public health, or social service agencies. For example, if someone presents an imminent risk of hurting themselves or others, we will share information deemed necessary to protect you or another person.

  • We can text, email, talk on the phone, or even meet in person…whatever works best for you.

  • If you are worried about someone, but do not feel that they pose an imminent risk of violence, you can reach out to us via this website. If someone you know is in imminent danger of harming themselves or others, please call 911.

  • No, we are not connected with law enforcement and are only required to contact law enforcement if we become aware of an imminent threat to public safety or to the individual you are concerned about.
